STEM/ STEAM/ MakerSpace

The STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) are an identified high priority of the Australian Government as it seeks to drive productivity and economic growth in Australia. STEM has become a priority at Ellerston Public School to both;

  • develop future learning within students, and
  • increase student engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

We aim to provide a learning environment that fosters the natural curiosity of children and develops their lateral thinking problem solving skills. We aim to develop our robotics, coding, MakerSpace and STEM activities to expose students to science, technology, engineering and maths.

What does this look like at EPS?

Our school has already begun! Our teachers are training and our students are engineering. In the future (as funds permit) we plan to renovate the weather shed into a workshop where students will be able to collaborate inside and outside to practice and develop in STEM.

We are always looking for volunteers and donations for our STEM, STEAM and MakerSpace initiative. If you have a skill, be it carpentry, plumbing, building, art, design, or even cooking and gardening, please LET US KNOW!

If you have (certain) tools or resources that you can donate, GREAT! Speak with Jen or Sam and we would love to hear about it.
